Darlene Harris, 77, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Village on the Park in Rogers, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Born February 27, 1949, in Russellville, Arkansas, Darlene was the daughter of J.D. and Nadine Vestal Hutcherson Cotton. Throughout her life, she found her greatest happiness in the simple pleasures of family, friendship, and the special moments that make life meaningful.
Darlene dedicated her professional career to caring for others as a Registered Nurse. Nursing was a profession that called for compassion, patience, and a willingness to help others, qualities reflected in her years of service. Darlene’s nursing legacy will be continued in her granddaughter, Gracie, who will soon follow in her footsteps as a nurse.
Away from her work, Darlene had a personality and interests that made her uniquely herself. She loved the music of Elvis Presley, enjoyed the companionship of her beloved cats, and could often be found lost reading medical articles, current events or Bible study. These simple pleasures brought her happiness, but nothing compared to the joy she found in spending time with her family.
Her granddaughters held an especially treasured place in her heart. Whether sharing stories, enjoying visits, or simply being together, Darlene cherished the moments she spent with those she loved. The memories created making chocolate gravy or a pumpkin pie will be lasting gifts to each granddaughter. Among those special memories were the adventures of riding along with her granddaughter Allie as she learned to drive. With Allie behind the wheel and Darlene along for the ride, those outings became moments of laughter, trust, and G and Allie bonding.
Darlene’s life was also touched by profound loss. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Shelly Denean Harris; her granddaughter, Olivia Denean Johnson; her parents; two brothers, Kenneth Cotton and Gary Hodges; and two sisters, Pat C. White and Paulette Whitley. Though she experienced the sorrow of saying goodbye to loved ones, their memories remained an enduring part of her life’s story.
She leaves behind her son, Scott Harris and wife Ann of Elm Springs; her daughter, Mandy Johnson and husband Shawn of Pottsville; and three cherished granddaughters, Allison Harris, Gracie Johnson, and Madison Johnson. She is also survived by two aunts, Ludy Campbell and Novella Garner; two very special nieces, Karen Braswell and Nikki Sasfai; a close-knit circle of nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends who will remember her with love.
Darlene’s legacy is found not simply in the years she lived, but in the lives she touched, the family she loved, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Her love for her children and granddaughters, her devotion to caring for others, and her appreciation for life’s everyday joys will continue to be remembered by those who knew her best.
Though her earthly journey has ended, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Humphrey Chapel, with the service led by family members. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery in Pottsville, Arkansas, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
