Pope County authorities now believe a man in his 70’s found dead inside his home north of London Wednesday evening died of natural causes.

Chief Deputy Shawn Harris with the Pope County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Thursday afternoon that investigators do not suspect foul play, although the man’s body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for further examination.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel were called to a home on Broken Bridge Lane off Sims Hollow Road around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, after a man reported finding his roommate deceased on the bathroom floor.

The caller told dispatchers he had not seen his roommate since Monday and went to check on him Wednesday evening. Detectives with the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Division were called to investigate, and the county coroner was contacted.

A search warrant was executed extending in early morning on Thursday.
