Jack Donovan Moore Jr. of Russellville, AR, affectionately known as “Don” passed away Thursday, October 22, at the age of 77 years and four months, having lived the best life a man could make for himself. A memorial visitation with the family will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, at Humphrey Funeral Home Chapel, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

First and foremost, Don was a loving father to Libby, Nate, and Mitchell. For the past 20 years, not a day went by without a phone call or visit from him. He was a proud and enthusiastic grandfather to Daniel, Molly, and his namesake, Jack, always eager to celebrate their accomplishments, victories, and milestones.

Don had a heart for people. As a sponsor to many in Alcoholics Anonymous, he believed in people, loved them through their journeys, and offered the kind of support that made a difference. He was also a Rotarian who lived the motto “Service Above Self.” The friendships he built through service brought him tremendous joy. Don preferred to work behind the scenes, never needing recognition or credit for the good he did.

Known for his intelligence, quick wit, and perfectly timed jokes, Don had a way of making people laugh and feel loved. When he knew his time was near, he requested no formal service. Instead, he wanted his voicemail greeting changed to: “I can’t come to the phone anymore, leave a message and I’ll send you a sign.” Even at the end, he found a way to leave people with a smile.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Jack D. Moore Sr. and Virginia Ethel Price of Forrest City, Arkansas; his sister, Janya Gee Moore of Forrest City; and his granddaughter, Emily Price Sanderson.

He is survived by his children: Libby Vaught (Brian) of Clarksville; Nate Moore of Little Rock; and Mitchell Moore (Amanda) of Edmond, Oklahoma. He will continue to live in the hearts of his grandchildren: Daniel J. Sanderson Jr. of Clarksville; Molly Moore of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Jack Donovan Moore of Edmond, Oklahoma. Girly Cat was a companion to Don for well over a decade and will live out her days as she always has, hunting moles, evading capture, and judging her human caregivers on their poor taste in cat food.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do something Don would have appreciated: feed peanuts to the jaybirds, adopt an old one-eyed cat, or simply smile at someone. Do a little good, make someone laugh, and don’t sweat the small stuff.

[375
post-2670","obituary","type-obituary","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","city-russellville
