Pope County early voting has topped 7,900, as 884 people voted Wednesday to bring the county’s early-voting total to 7,907.
The total is up from 7,023 through Tuesday, when 907 people voted, and 6,116 through Monday.
In neighboring Yell County, 1,841 people had voted early as of Wednesday, up from 1,195 at the end of the first week of early voting.
Early voting continues at Election Commission Headquarters, 1509 East Main Street, Suite 7, in Russellville. Hours are 8 AM–6 PM on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 29–30, and 10 AM–4 PM on Saturday, Oct. 31. The final day of early voting is Monday, Nov. 2, from 8 AM–5 PM.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Voters who want to beat the rain may want to go this week: Thursday and Friday are forecast dry, while Saturday, Oct. 31, brings a 60% chance of afternoon showers and rain likely that evening. The final early-voting day, Monday, Nov. 2, has a 50% chance of showers, and Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, carries an 80% chance of thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, several Pope County voters who requested absentee ballots say theirs still haven’t arrived, and they’re concerned. County Clerk Pam Ennis said Tuesday her office has re-mailed a few ballots that appeared to be lost in the mail or slow getting to voters. Ennis said the Post Office is supposed to treat the ballots as priority, but once her office sends them, there’s little more it can do.
